Data Sources
The SEOW has compiled a list of data sources that you can utilize for all your data needs. Some of these data sources were created by the Virginia SEOW to help you locate data sources based while others were created to provide you more context about the data and ways you can utilize it.
Virginia Social Indicator Dashboard
The Virginia Social Indicator Study Dashboard, also known as VASIS, is a compilation of behavioral health data from agencies and organizations across the state. The goal of the dashboard is to centralize key indicators of behavioral health and wellness to use as a resource for needs assessment, epidemiological monitoring and planning.
Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program
Nationally, in 2018, there were over 67,000 drug overdose deaths with opioids representing nearly 70% of all overdose deaths. 67% of all opioid-involved overdose deaths involved synthetic opioids. Data released from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) displays a decrease in fatal overdoses from 2017 to 2018, however, there is an absent methodology nationally to track non-fatal overdoses. ODMAP offers the ability to collect both suspected fatal and non-fatal overdoses, in real time, across jurisdictions, to mobilize a cohesive and collaborative response.
Virginia Substance Use and Behavioral Health Data Directory
This directory was compiled by the SEOW and is a directory of sources that collect and publish Virginia-specific substance use and behavioral health related data. The directory includes risk and protective factors for substance use, consequences of use, and several demographic indicators relevant to the multi-faceted issues of substance use and behavioral health.
